HAROON BAKHSH BRIEF

Jacob Ham

DATE

1st January 2017

DEADLINE

20th February 2017.

Brief.

Haroon Bakhsh is an online entrepreneur, blogger and in the near future a web developer. I was contacted by Haroon to redevelop his personal branding and establish his identity by creating a set of branding guidelines to help set the bar for how his branding should be presented.

The solution was to recreate his branding that was in place but reposition it to create a bigger and better outcome. The logo should be used In the footer of Blog posts, which is to show individuality and to help self promotion and recognition by readers and in commercial work such as client work it will do the same.

The branding should be represented in a monogram ‘HB’ which is used where less space is available or a smaller logo is preferred and a wordmark ‘Haroon Bakhsh’ where larger space is available.

SWOT Analysis.
A SWOT Analysis helps me to outline the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that I will potentially face throughout this brief.

  • Strengths - A set of tasks or situations that I can manage and succeed in, most often will benefit me in  a project.

  • Weaknesses - The opposite to “Strengths”, weaknesses are usually personality traits or skills you have yet to learnt that might hinder progress within that project.

  • Opportunities - A list of situations that are positive towards myself or the project. These can appear at the start, during or after the project is finished                   and finalised.

  • Threats - Things that can cause danger to the project and alter the outcome or even producing a finished product to give to the client.

Strengths.

  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Great understanding of logo design and developing guidelines for brands.

  • Time management and planning out projects.

  • Great feedback from previous and on going clients.

Weaknesses.

  • Lack of coding knowledge.

Opportunities.

  • Working with live clients.

  • Opportunity to help develop Haroon’s branding and his brand awareness.

  • To get a wider knowledge of branding and website design along with developing my skills as a freelance designer.

  • To expand my portfolio of work.

Threats.

  • Client disliking the work and going else where.

  • Producing work that I am unhappy with.

Strengths.
During the duration of this project there is a few personal attributes that will help me accomplish the end goal of completing this project and making the client happy. The first being I have a great understanding of how to use a wide range of the key Adobe Creative Software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator which are crucial for even starting this project. The second being I have a vast knowledge of branding and creating guidelines using Adobe InDesign from experience with other clients and from learning in my spare time.

While working on this project along with managing other ones it is important that I manage my time effectively and that i do not fall behind, so planning and setting objectives with myself and the client is the best way to keep track of progress and set any deadlines for parts of the project.

Weaknesses.
Throughout this project there will be one weakness that could potentially cause a problem for making progress. That being not having any knowledge on how to code either front or back end websites. This will be a issue as i will be designing a website for the client, this will mean I lose potential experience in working with the client for a longer period of time.

Opportunities.
There are opportunities that will arise while working on this brief with the client and even after the project is finalised. The first being that I will gain experience working with live clients which is a crucial skill to develop early on as a designer especially when I plan to work in the world of freelance after a graduate.

The second being I am presented with the task of helping Haroon further develop his brand to attract more clients and give its a bigger appeal than it currently has. This is important to both me and the client as his current branding sets the bar for the work that needs to be produced or improved upon.

Threats.
During this project a few things can ruin the progression of the entire project and make the client go else where, such as the client disliking the work and turning down the concepts I put forward and that resulting in them going else where for the work, this could potentially be a bad thing for getting bad feedback.

Another threat could be a personal factor, which maybe that i do not like the outcome of my work and refuse to publish it in my portfolio or even show the final result to potential clients in the future.
