Brief.

Retinent are looking to tidy the brand up, that would include Business cards, letter head both for print and electronic format, PowerPoint template and email footer template.

Logo design.

The logo I decided to take forward and develop further was probably a straight up winner in terms of how it looked and how it appealed to others. The concepts that where rejected felt to plain and did not really show a clear link to the brand or its values.

The idea behind this logo was to represent the progression and development of the students by using the buffering circle found on most platforms on video streaming. I played on using four shades of colour to represent each 25% of progression, essentially it would start with red then slowly go to green when enough progression has been made.

25% - Light Blue

50% - Dark Blue

75% - Light Navy

100% - Navy

The use of the circle not only represents the progression of the students but it shows the retention of the students in education and links to the values of the brand. At the centre, I the letter R which is to represent the name of the company, however portrays the look of an arrow pointing diagonally to show rapid development and improvement.

I redeveloped the concept slightly by changing the way the colours would be featured on the logo. Before the darker colours overlapped the lighter colours and I felt that mislead people on the direction and progression of the logo. So, I swapped it around so that the lighter overlaps the darker colours to make your eyes around the logo more effectively.

Brand Assets.

I wanted to use the design of the logo in some way within the branding assets, whether it was creating a pattern or using the the shape of the logo as a outline for important information such as the contact details.

I decided to use sample text as the templates are not final and will be changed whenever they are used by the client, however the PowerPoint presentation template maybe used for a set project but could change depending on the audience.

The business cards will be finalised as the information should be the same each time they are handed out unless the contact details of the company change but that will be very unlikely unless the company gets a new domain such as changing from .org to .co.uk or switching to a new mobile number.

The design of the assets was to use the upwards directing letter R to show a sense of direction but adding a rectangle which will feature the important information of the company or on things such as PowerPoint Presentation will show the page number.

Deadline.

Until now this is the first brief that I have worked on that has been rather short in terms of deadline, however the deadline is somewhat spilt into sections. With having to present the logo first then coming back to present the brand assets. Overall I prefer shorter briefs as the project feels to drag on for too long but it does mean you got to develop your ideas further.

Conclusion.

In the end I feel that I have managed my time perfectly when working on this brief and I am content with the work I have produced, especially the logo for the brand and how it ties in with the companies values. Personally I think working on tighter deadlines allows you to make more crucial decisions for development which defiantly turned out for the better in my opinion.
